Local Rock band Dutch Cousins from the suburbs of DC formed in 2003, who have now premiered their new LP “Traveling songs” for both download via itunes or for sale off the internet. Since 2004 the band headed by singer Tom Karpf, have been going through a transition of guitarists after the original guitarist Dan Hughes left. producing songs in their basement inDrummer Barry Blankenship’s basement the band only started to produce an album at Chicken Coop Studios in Howard County Maryland.

Dutch Cousins are a group which definitely have done their homework. the bound sound like a cocktail of Tom Petty, James Taylor, Weezer and Rem. Listening to their flagship album, EVEN their starting song “All That I Can Do” has vocals of that like Bob Dylan and choppy riffs like Bruce Springsteen. Living life in such a depressing time, song writing has helped to hit hot issues concerning us, such as in their song ‘Down At The Top Of The World.  Their album recorded in the rolling farms of Maryland has really shown on their album with a real country traveling beat to their songs “Slowburn” as the band play along to ‘ Onward and onward the twist in the light, its all coming back to me now’. for a band who have only recorded one album, their song ‘Never Loved Anyone’ ends so perfectly that it sounds like something REM would of recorded after all there recent CD’s.
