EP Review: Babyshambles, the Blinding

For 'Junkie Rocker' Peter Doherty, the new single 'the blinding' is a new slate turned over. Comparing it to their past released album 'Down in Albion' the blinding is the light out of a dark tunnel of drugs and court cases for doherty.

The blinding EP is six songs and overall is more like a small album than a single. The self-titled song 'the blinding' is a new song with 'foxey lady' riffs and lyrics criticising the justice system. Still being a good quality song, it could be added to the Doherty Greats of 'Fuck Forever' or 'Albion'. With a new line up with Mick Whitnall instead of Patrick walden the sounds of Babyshambles has ultimatley changed. The new song 'I Wish' is a ska song at almost a tribute to the times of two tone. This can be equally put as Doherty's best co-written song along side Whitnall. 'Love you but your'e green' is the last track on the EP, and is a pre-libertines doherty written tune. It is a good song making big songs from oasis look like a childs song group.
